Schatzley’s Diamond and Jewelry Design Studio has been doing business in the Toledo area since 1979. We are proud to say we have done very little advertising in all of the time and our business has thrived due to the priceless word-of-mouth advertising of our satisfied clients. Schatzley’s Diamond and Jewelry Design Studio specializes in custom-designed jewelry set with our customers’ Diamonds as well as our Diamonds. We also carry a wide variety of colored gem stones from Amethyst to Zircon. Custom design is more than setting Diamonds and gems in a gold mounting. It is listening to what the customer wants and creating that dream ring or pendant. This is Renee Schatzley’s specialty. Renee has always been interested in art so it was natural when Jack and Kay opened Schatzley’s in 1979 that their daughter, Renee, contributed her artistic talent in creating jewelry.

She loves nature (you should see her wild flower and wild mushroom pictures from Upper Michigan) and this enters some of her designs. She is great at listening to the customer and helping her create just what the customer wants.

Schatzley’s has a nice selection of design samples to start with and also pictures of pieces we have done for stock or for our customers. Renee will get a scope of what is wanted and then draw a design to scale. In some instances, she will have a wax model carved or she will have a computer CAD/CAM image made of the design. After modifications are made, we will then cast in your choice of metals and have our setter place the gems into the metal. See our descriptions of the various metals.

Renee is a jewelry designer trained by the GIA. She is also a Graduate Gemologist.

We also do insurance replacement work for more than 20 insurance companies. When an insured loses or damages a piece of jewelry, the insurance company will send us the information and we determine how much it will cost to duplicate the item. We contact the insured to encourage them to replace the item through Schatzley’s.

The professionals at Schatzley’s Diamond and Jewelry Design Studio conduct appraisals for insurance purposes as well as estate purposes. Jack Schatzley is an approved IRS appraiser and approved court appraiser.

Jewelry repair is another specialty at Schatzley’s Diamond and Jewelry Design Studio. From simple chain repairs or ring sizing to new head sections or remaking a ring that has been demolished in an accident, we can take on even the toughest challenge.

We are also well-versed in re-cutting Diamonds and colored gems that have been chipped or scratched. We personally do not do the re-cutting but we have lapidaries who work for us who specialize in this area.
