At Schatzley’s Diamond and Jewelry Design Studio, we know you love your Diamond earrings and other earrings that you seem to wear all of the time. Please have your earrings cleaned by a professional jeweler at least three times a year. There should not be any charge. When done, they should give you a jar of jewelry cleaner to use daily. When the solution gets dingy looking, get a new jar of cleaner. For those of you who insist on never taking your earrings out, shame on you! Make-up, hairspray, body oils and finger prints will destroy the sparkle of your Diamonds until you get them cleaned. Then take them out every night and put them in a jar of jewelry cleaner until the morning or the next time you want to wear them. There is no harm to the metal or the gems with few exceptions. Do not soak pearls, Emeralds, or opals in jewelry cleaner unless it is pearl-safe formula. If certain earrings cause you irritation, have the posts replaced with 18k yellow gold or platinum.
